Celtic loose and other SPL news from the weekend






Via SPL-St Johnstone came from behind to beat Celtic 2-1 at McDiarmid Park on Saturday as Steve Lomas' side moved off the bottom of the table with their first victory of the season.

Kris Commons gave the visitors an early lead but Gregory Tade equalised before half-time and Rowan Vine curled home the decisive goal from the edge of the box with 10 minutes remaining.

Motherwell remain at the SPL summit thanks to a 2-1 win over Dundee at Dens Park. Colin Nish headed the hosts in front but Michael Higdon levelled then grabbed the winner late on.

Hibernian are in second place after beating Kilmarnock 2-1 at Easter Road. Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring when his corner kick found its way into the net and the on-loan Wolves striker then converted a penalty after Danny Racchi had hauled the visitors back into it.

Goals from Jim Goodwin and Lewis Guy earned St Mirren a 2-0 home win over Hearts to lift Danny Lennon's team up to third place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

A late goal from Aberdeen teenager Cammy Smith gave the Dons a 1-1 draw away to Inverness CT, who had gone ahead through a penalty from Richie Foran. Both sides ended with 10 men after Owain Tudur Jones and Russell Anderson were sent off in separate incidents.
