Via ESPN FC-Americans Fabian Johnson and Daniel Williams scored as Hoffenheim secured its first points of the season with a 3-1 win over Hannover, climbing off the bottom of the Bundesliga.
An own goal from Mathieu Delpierre compounded what has been a poor start of the season for Hoffenheim, but Johnson replied immediately at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.
Late goals from Sejad Salihovic and Williams then gave Hoffenheim some long-awaited joy as it moved off the foot of the table with their first three points of the season.
The result left Stuttgart as one of only two top-flight teams without a victory to their names this term, but it secured a hard-fought point Sunday in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen at the Weser Stadion in a match which saw both sides finish with 10 men.
Kevin de Bruyne and Zlatko Junuzovic established a two-goal advantage for the home team before halftime, but Stuttgart never gave up and recovered with goals from Martin Harnik and Cacau.
Harnik was then shown a second yellow card, soon to be followed down the tunnel by Assani Lukimya after he saw red late on.
Finally, Andre Schurrle missed a penalty as Bayer Leverkusen was held to a 1-1 draw by Borussia Monchengladbach at the BayArena.
In the battle of two of Germany's Europa League participants, both of whom drew 0-0 last Thursday, Leverkusen did everything but score more than their opponents, who collapsed after taking an early lead through Patrick Hermann.
Michal Kadlec soon levelled for Leverkusen but they were unable to find a winner in almost 80 minutes of a one-sided game, including Schurrle's penalty miss in the 70th minute.
